Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was asked by media, whether he would like to race without much competition, or one where he had to fight for victory, like this year’s Canadian GP. Max Verstappen made it clear that he was not afraid of facing stiff competition.

Max Verstappen explains his opinion on this, he says everyone including himself makes a lot of mistakes, because no one’s perfect. However, he reckoned when he’s competing closely with many teams, he tries his best to avoid these mistakes throughout the year. The Dutchman mentioned, race in Montreal as an example of a close competition where mistakes can make a big difference.

Of course we're not robots. People make mistakes. I make mistakes too. But you try to minimize these kinds of mistakes all year long, especially when you're in a close fight with a lot of teams, So it doesn't have to be as close as in Montreal every time”

The 26-year-old admits, he’s not scared of competitions, what matters the most to him is how well he performs. Red Bull can still perform at it’s best even when in pressure. The Dutchman remains confident in his ability to handle challenges and believes in his team’s capabilities to shine in tough situations.

But I'm not afraid of competition either, I'm focused on my own performance and I know that when we're under pressure we can do a good job.

Sergio Perez claims problems of current season are ‘different’ from those of 12 months ago

Sergio Perez has been facing some setbacks recently. However, he explains the reasons for these problems are different than those were a year ago. The Mexican believes that currently the team is in a better position with the car and they have a better understanding of how it works. He explained with an example of race in Canada, they made a mistake of trying to adjust too many things with the car’s setup at once. However, it ultimately failed to work out.

They are different. I think we are in a much better position with the car, with the understanding [of the car]. In Canada, for example, they simply tried to fix "too many things" with the set-up.

Overall, Perez feels his team is in a much stronger position, which gives him the confidence to overcome the current difficulties he’s been facing. The Mexican is optimistic that performing well in a race will help him regain his lost momentum. It won’t be that easy, because he had to deal with a grid penalty this weekend in Barcelona.

I know that I can regain my momentum if I drive a good race, And perhaps that will happen this weekend - although it will of course not be easy with the grid penalty in the bag.
Sergio Perez stated

Certainly, Perez is hopeful that his improved situation compared to last year will help him bounce back soon. Fans, would love Perez back in action and scoring some points for the team to prove his worth of contract extension during Canadian GP.
