Max Verstappen‘s 2024 title campaign has been riddled with controversies. The Dutch driver has had several skirmishes on track with arch-rival Lando Norris. Many have criticized Verstappen’s approach to wheel-to-wheel battles. However, the 27-year-old seems to be unbothered by such comments.
The Mexican GP was the boiling point over Verstappen’s continued aggression. The three-time world champion was handed two time penalties which ultimately ruined his race. Moreover, Lando Norris has admitted that he regrets not matching the Dutch driver’s way of racing.
Nevertheless, Max Verstappen has made it clear that he will not change his way of racing. The Red Bull driver asserted that when he is battling a driver, then his rival will simply not get the room to overtake on the outside. The reigning world champion insisted that this was how he has learnt to compete.
Max Verstappen labels some F1 drivers as ‘passive’
The 27-year-old claimed that a few drivers are more passive in Formula 1. Max Verstappen did not name any driver in particular. Though he might be referring to Norris. Verstappen emphasized that even he is aware that going around the outside for an overtake always has the risk of being pushed off the track by the other car.
Certainly, Max Verstappen is one of the few drivers who do not succumb to external pressure. The Dutch driver will continue to race as he has since his karting days. Now, the reigning world champion will be shifting his focus to potentially winning the title this weekend in Las Vegas.
