Max Verstappen, the reigning F1 world champion, did not have the best of outings during yesterday’s British GP qualifying session. After going into the gravel and sustaining floor damage, the Dutchman was only able to muster up a fourth-place starting position.

The Red Bull driver will start the upcoming 52-lap race alongside rival, Lando Norris. While the fans and the pundits were shocked seeing Max Verstappen end up in fourth, after the session, the 26-year-old was surprisingly happy with his outing.

Keeping in view the damage on his RB20, Verstappen felt that P4 was the best he could have managed.

I had to take the gravel, which ripped the floor apart. [I] missed quite a few bits on the car, even though I do think the team did a great job of trying to recover some of the bits and try to optimize the balance front to rear. That basically ruined our qualifying. I was happy to be in Q3 already with the damage that we had. At the end, to be P4 is probably a bit of a positive surprise.

While shedding light on his hopes for the British Grand Prix, he added.

I would like to be in the mix!

Looking at the reaction of the three-time world champion, it is quite clear that he is satisfied with his quali outing. Moreover, he has indicated that he will try his best to move up the grid in the race and hopefully, amass another Grand Prix win.

Sergio Perez ‘extremely hurt’ with British GP Q1 elimination

While Verstappen is looking forward to having a fruitful outing in the upcoming Silverstone race, his teammate, Sergio Perez is also on the same wavelength. The latter ended his quali outing with a Q1 elimination.

A mistake that hurts me a lot for my whole team. Tomorrow is a new opportunity, and the important thing is to never give up.

The Red Bull F1 team has found itself in a tricky position ahead of the upcoming event. However, despite the challenges, it is heartwarming to see that both drivers are keeping a positive outlook.

Rain is expected to play a huge role in the British GP and this could provide Verstappen and Perez with the perfect opportunity to move up on the grid. A positive result in Silverstone is extremely important for Red Bull, keeping in view the small gap to rival teams in the Constructors standings.
