Max Verstappen has not had the smoothest of rides during the ongoing 2024 F1 season. After 14 rounds, he has only been able to amass seven victories, which is nowhere near compared to what he was able to achieve last year (19 wins out of a possible 22).

Red Bull’s RB20 has not proved to be an absolute beast on the track and amidst the rise in the performance levels of rival outfits, Max Verstappen wants his team to find additional performance. The RB20 lacked in several areas in the first half of the ongoing campaign.

At the end of the day, we just need to focus on ourselves. I think we can do things better, maybe as well in terms of optimising the performance. So that's where my attention goes. Naturally, you have the championship in the back of your mind but I think we first need to focus on just trying to find a bit more performance in the car.

Verstappen via his reaction has made it known that no matter what the other teams are doing, Red Bull needs to focus only on itself. He genuinely feels if his team can find additional performance in the RB20, it will bode extremely well for them for the remainder of 2024.

Max Verstappen well aware of McLaren threat in title fight

While the reigning world champion has urged the Milton-Keynes-based team to perform to the best of their abilities, he has also taken the time to acknowledge McLaren’s might. The Papaya outfit’s MCL38 has so far proved to be a lethal weapon.

Moreover, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris have done an excellent job behind the wheel of the challenger.

Naturally, if they are the dominant force and they keep winning, then yeah, for sure.

The 2024 F1 season has only 10 races remaining on the calendar. The fight in both the world championships is quite tight and considering this, every race from Zandvoort onwards will be vitally important for the top four teams. Red Bull is currently in an advantageous position but will surely be made to sweat going forward.
