The world of F1 has calmed down a bit since the last race in Singapore. With the next event in Austin being three weeks away, drivers have resorted to using the gap between the races for a much-needed break. On the contrary, Max Verstappen is back on his regular schedule of streaming, when away from racing, and had great fun while racing boats in a Minecraft race on his live stream.
Max Verstappen was criticized for his sim racing schedule earlier this season in Hungary. The Dutchman had a torrid weekend in Budapest and commentators took a dig at his late-night venture in sim racing while referring to his frustrated nature on the radio. This led him to take some time off from streaming on Twitch but returned a few weeks later.
Moreover, with the huge break between the next race in Austin, the reigning champion played Minecraft, fulfilling his viewer’s request.
For realism, Verstappen’s character wore the Red Bull Racing outfit. He raced boats on a supposed recreation of the Melbourne circuit in the game and started P5. The Dutchman raced forward and made moves to claim victory in his maiden Minecraft boat race.
Max Verstappen devises a solution for the hectic F1 calendar
While streaming is the 26-year-old’s side venture, his main focus still relies on retaining the bragging rights in the championship. However, his stance on FIA and Formula One Management(FOM) handling the sport has grown skeptical.
The Dutchman has publicly condemned the addition of races to the F1 calendar and has proposed a solution for the FOM to ease the pressure on the drivers.
Verstappen explained that by utilizing the proximity of countries, the management could formulate a calendar where the drivers and personnel would not have to travel for long hours. This would aid them in avoiding feeling jet-lagged and not feeling the constraint of the added races.
Despite the reigning champion’s effort to resolve the problem, FOM is understood to not abide by his recommendation. Thus, the calendar and the FIA’s nature could drive away the triple champion from continuing in F1.
