Max Verstappen was rewarded with massive applause and praises following his impressive defense against the in-form Lando Norris at the US GP. The Dutchman made a last-straw move on Norris which forced the latter off-track and made Verstappen receive some backlash. Amidst the ongoing debate regarding the move, the 27-year-old has taken a dig at the people speculating.
Lando Norris wasn’t too happy with Max Verstappen‘s dive-bomb which made the former get a five-second penalty. Norris even took a dig at the Dutchman for the move. However, the championship leader defended himself by noting that he didn’t make the rules. Apart from this, Verstappen claimed it was ‘crazy’ that people could read his mind and guess what he was thinking during the race.
It’s quite impressive that people can read my mind [with apex tactics]. It’s crazy.
Max Verstappen told motorsport.com
Verstappen claimed he was trying his best to make the corner and not overtake using a shortcut. As a result, he didn’t have an answer to people guessing his thought process during the overtake. Moreover, the 27-year-old noted that Norris and he liked to race hard and that’s what they did at the US GP.
I always try to make the corner, I didn’t want to look for a shortcut, so I don’t even know what to answer to this one. We’ve always said we wanted to race each other hard, that’s what we like to do.

Max Verstappen suffered from a ‘difficult’ second stint at US GP
Red Bull’s performance struggles were evident at the US GP despite Max Verstappen scoring an impressive podium. The Dutchman noted that he suffered from a difficult second stint during the race. Verstappen lost grip a lot and faced difficulties in braking. This was the reason the reigning world champion faced a torrid time defending against Lando Norris.
It was quite a difficult second stint. I lost a lot of grip on the front axle, it’s very difficult to brake. That’s what made my defence more difficult, because I know that if I braked a little bit too late, I would lock up and I really didn’t have the front grip.
Max Verstappen noted

Verstappen continued to extend his lead in the championship after a dominant defense. The Dutchman has become the fan-favorite for winning the drivers’ championship in the 2024 season. Hence, as things currently are, the reigning world champion will claim his fourth consecutive championship this year.
