Max Verstappen has shockingly returned in the fight for the driver’s title in the 2025 season amid Red Bull’s sudden resurgence. The Dutchman was seemingly out of the battle as he trailed the championship lead by over 100 points, while the McLaren drivers dominated.

However, a few dominant races have cut the point deficit down to just 36 points, against leader Lando Norris at P1, as well as Oscar Piastri who is just one point behind, and Verstappen remains a strong contender for the title. As such, he makes a realistic admission about his championship ambitions this year.

The 2025 season is nearing completion and has just four races left. Max Verstappen enters the Brazilian GP as the defending winner following his stellar victory charge from P17 to P1 on the wet circuit last year. As such, the Dutchman will hope to replicate his past performances in Brazil and cut down the point deficit further. However, even if Verstappen does not win the title this season, he is still satisfied with his performances so far.

Max Verstappen boldly admitted that there was no pressure on him to perform well at this point in the season. He explained that even if he did not win the title, he knew that he had driven a really good season. Further, he claimed that it would be very difficult for another driver to replicate his performances this year, more so because of Red Bull’s mediocre challenger.

Speaking on his championship ambitions this year, Max Verstappen noted that he just needed to be realistic about his chances to win in the 2025 season. The 28-year-old shed light on the fact that still being in the championship fight after the struggles since the beginning of the year was a massive feat in itself. As such, the reigning world champion is delighted with his results so far, regardless of his title win.

For me, there is no pressure. Even if I don’t win it, I still know that I drove a really good season and I can happily say that to try and replicate the season that I have done, most people on the grid would find that very tough. So, you just need to be realistic with the chances we have had throughout the season and to still be talking about being in this fight is already remarkable in the first place.

Max Verstappen said, as reported by ESPN.

Max Verstappen insisted that Red Bull was able to achieve a turnaround in performance, all thanks to the team’s determination and grit. The Dutchman noted that the team never gave up despite the circumstances, and that was the true testament of the team’s strength. Verstappen declared that it was very impressive to still be in the title fight, especially after being over 100 points behind the championship leader.

For sure, it has to do with the turnaround of the team, they never gave up and that is a strength of a team. Nevertheless, at one point when you are over 100 points behind, and we are still talking about being in this fight, that is very impressive.

Max Verstappen noted.

The driver’s title battle is far from over as the 2025 season nears completion. For now, Max Verstappen will aim to take the season race by race. He definitely cannot be counted out of the battle as he will give it his all to win his fifth consecutive championship. For now, the Dutchman will prepare for a dominant outing at the Brazilian GP and keep up with his positive momentum.
