Max Verstappen faced more ups and downs in the 2024 season compared to previous years. The Dutchman has struggled to win races in recent rounds. Despite hopes that the summer break would help Red Bull improve their car, it appears the car has only worsened. Verstappen expects his RB20 to struggle again in the upcoming races in Azerbaijan and Singapore.
Max Verstappen dominated the 2023 season but struggled at the Singapore GP, finishing in 5th place. This year, the Dutchman doesn’t expect much from the upcoming race in Singapore due to the recent decline in Red Bull’s performance due to it’s cars balance. He explained that his car is currently not the fastest, even on regular tracks. As a result, he doesn’t believe that Singapore, a challenging street track for him will suddenly become a standout race.
At the moment, we are not the fastest car even on a normal track. So I don't expect Singapore to suddenly then be fantastic.Max Verstappen said, as reported by GPblog.com
Red Bull finished at P5 in the recent Italian GP which clearly demonstrated they’re not the fastest on the grid anymore. So, Max Verstappen doesn’t expect the situation to change dramatically in the Singapore race. He believed that the challenges they face with their car will remain the same and won’t suddenly improve just because they’re racing on a different track.
It's not going to like swap around in Singapore for us.Max Verstappen added.
Max Verstappen claims RB20’s ride can be improved naturally
Max Verstappen explained that right now, the main issue with their car is its balance on most tracks. He noted that the car’s ride could be better on any track, but this problem becomes more noticeable on street circuits. Therefore the upcoming races in Singapore would be a challenge for Red Bull and Verstappen as it is a street track.
I think at the moment on most tracks, it's mainly the balance. Ride can be improved on every single track naturally. But on the street circuits, that really comes out more.Max Verstappen stated.
Certainly, Verstappen believed that he can improve the car’s ride on any track but the problems with the balance are making it harder to do so. Red Bull’s Constructors lead is very uncertain and currently, fans expect the team to improve their car and fight for the title again.
