Max Verstappen faced several challenges during the Dutch GP, struggling with multiple issues related to his car. As a result, he couldn’t match the pace of Lando Norris and finished in second place, trailing by 22 seconds. The upcoming race in Monza presents another chance for the defending world champion to try new things with his RB20.

Max Verstappen during a recent interview explained that the main issue during the Zandvoort race was that the weather made it hard to judge how well the car was performing. The wind and rain created unpredictable conditions, making it difficult to get a clear sense of what adjustments were needed for the car. He also mentioned that Red Bull needs to work hard for Monza, it would be different because it’s at another track with unique characteristics. Despite the change, he still wanted to try out some new adjustments to the car to see if they can improve its performance.

The problem in Zandvoort was that you couldn't make a good judgment because of the wind and the rain. It's a different weekend and a different type of circuit, although I do want to try some things with the car.

Max Verstappen highly disagreed by the statement that the Dutch GP was a wake up call for Red Bull. He explained that he would not call it that way, but he saw it as just a difficult weekend for the team with some things not going as planned. Therefore, rather than being a wake-up call it was just a reminder that things don’t go as planned sometimes.

I wouldn't call it that. It just wasn't the best weekend for us for a number of reasons.

Max Verstappen admits Red Bull couldn’t get the car going as they wanted in Zandvoort

Max Verstappen stated that they struggled to get the car to perform as they wanted during the race because of the wind. The wind caused balance problems for the car, making it hard to control and maintain speed, especially around corners. As such, the team couldn’t find the right setup to handle the changing conditions, which affected their overall performance during the race. Subsequently, the car didn’t respond as expected, making it a tough race for both Verstappen and the team.

We couldn't get the car going the way we wanted it to, because the wind made it very difficult with the balance issues we have.
Max Verstappen stated.

Certainly, Red Bull faced several challenges, with the wind being a major factor that caused balance issues with the car. Fans are hopeful that the upcoming races in Monza will favor Red Bull, allowing them to score enough points to maintain their lead in the Constructors’ Championship.
