Max Verstappen has had a tough few months in Formula 1. The Dutch driver last won a race in June this year. Verstappen has lost a lot of points in the standings to Lando Norris in recent races. However, the reigning world champion expressed his joy for finally ending his win drought with Sprint race victory in Austin.
The 27-year-old started the Sprint from pole position and stayed put throughout the 19 laps. Lando Norris seemed to pose a threat at the start, but ultimately even fell behind Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz. This paved the way for an easy victory for Max Verstappen.
After the race, the three-time world champion praised the Red Bull garage for doing a great job in the past couple of weeks. Verstappen highlighted that winning the Sprint was a much better result considering his recent run of form.
GP: Great job, Max. Nice last lap. Well controlled. Focus on tomorrow.
