Red Bull’s performance mid-way through the 2024 season has caused the team to lose the constructors’ championship lead. Milton Keynes had crushing hopes of winning the Singapore GP before the Qualifying session. However, Max Verstappen‘s front-row qualifying made the team hopeful of a race win. Regardless, the team committed a mistake in pitstop strategy that upset the Dutchman.
Max Verstappen failed to gain the lead from Lando Norris in pole during the race start. As a result, Norris continued to widen the gap to Verstappen, declining him a chance of a late-race battle. Additionally, Red Bull decided to pit before the McLaren which caused the Dutchman to be undercut by Charles Leclerc on the same lap.
Hence, Max Verstappen took to the team radio to showcase his discontent with the botched strategy. Verstappen claimed that he failed to understand the reasons behind allowing Leclerc to undercut him after the pit. Additionally, the reigning world champion labeled the strategy as ‘stupid’ after failing to fight for the lead.
I just don't get it why we let him undercut us by so far. It's just so stupid!Max Verstappen said on the team radio
GP: "Box, Max box."

Max Verstappen ‘confident’ of managing a good race despite ‘difficult to judge’ conditions
Max Verstappen was hopeful of competing for the race win after securing a P2 start at the Marina Bay Circuit. The Dutchman claimed that it was difficult to judge the ending of the race especially at the Singapore GP. Regardless, Verstappen showcased ‘confidence’ over his chances of fighting for the race win.
It's always difficult to judge where everyone will be in the race, but I am confident that we can have a good one.Max Verstappen said during the pre-race interview

Red Bull will have to work harder than this to contend for the constructors’ championship against the in-form McLaren. Woking has already scored a great lead over Milton Keynes after failed performances from Sergio Perez. Hence, the remainder of the races will be extremely crucial for the Austrian constructor.
