Max Verstappen has established himself as one of the greatest drivers in the history of Formula 1. It is thus no surprise that the Dutch driver receives support from perhaps the biggest fandom on the grid in the form of the ‘Orange Army.’ However, Verstappen recently admitted that sometimes the pressure from his fans can get too much.
Thousands of fans of the Orange Army fill the grandstands at several races to support the three-time world champion. Verstappen’s home race in Zandvoort almost feels like a sea of orange entirely. Although, Max Verstappen recently confessed that he wouldn’t wish anyone to have such a big fandom to perform for.
The Dutch driver highlighted that the success was great with fans rallying behind him. However, this also brings immense pressure to perform for Max Verstappen. The 26-year-old claimed that everyone expects him to win every race. Unfortunately, Verstappen has gone winless for the last eight races in a row, something that last happened over five years ago.
Max Verstappen insists Orange Army ‘not a problem’ if things go well
The reigning world champion emphasized that the Orange Army was not a problem in itself. Max Verstappen highlighted that if things were going in his favor, there was nothing to be concerned about. However, during difficult times, the pressure does seem to impact the Red Bull driver.
Certainly, Verstappen would be hoping to live up to the expectations of his fans in the coming weeks. The 26-year-old still has a substantial lead in the standings. However, if Red Bull fails to improve its car, Max Verstappen might be at risk of losing the 2024 F1 world title.
