Max Verstappen is known for his impressive ability to extract every bit of performance from the machinery he is given. This is witnessed in his results as the Dutchman has been dominating the sport for a long time. This has led his performance engineer, Tom Hart, to explain the reason behind the Red Bull driver’s sheer dominance and how he is solely centered on racing and does not care about other things.
Recently, Red Bull has been at the receiving end of multiple controversies. This ultimately led to an internal power struggle, which resulted in the loss of Adrian Newey from the Austrian marque’s arsenal. However, this has not had many repercussions on Max Verstappen as he remains focused on performing his best and winning races.
Subsequently, his performance engineer shed light on how the 26-year-old remains focused and does not get influenced by the shenanigans taking place around him.
Max[Vertsappen] is ultimately the best sensor. He senses what he is up against and is very good at clarifying whether he wants to try something different and what exactly. He is very direct and knows what he wants. There's no room for politics or b***shit.Tom Hart said in an interview with de Telegraaf
Hart claimed that Verstappen is the best sensor on the grid. Furthermore, he explained that the Dutchman provides accurate feedback and is not concerned by the drama going on in the background, which is ultimately the reason for his raw pace over others.
Helmut Marko fears Red Bull might not meet expectations after tough Friday outing for Max Verstappen
Despite strong expectations from the Austrian squad to bounce back in Imola, slow progress has been made so far in the practice sessions. Moreover, Red Bull did not finish in the top three even once, during the FP1 and FP2 sessions.

Helmut Marko claimed that there was something wrong due to the subpar performance of the RB20.
Both drivers have about the same problems, but fighting with the rear we have had more often. What worries me more is that Verstappen has problems with it. That means he can't get control of it. And if Verstappen can't do that, then something is well wrong.Helmut Marko said in an interview with Motorsport-Magazin
The Austrian explained that Verstappen and Sergio Perez have had problems so far in the ongoing weekend. However, it is more concerning that the former is not up to the pace as he has been the lead driver throughout the season, and if he cannot get up to speed soon, then it could be disastrous for Red Bull.
Despite certain concerns, the Milton Keynes-based outfit is still the favorite for the win on Sunday. However, they would receive tough competition from McLaren and Ferrari. The upcoming qualifying session will be immensely crucial for the various F1 teams around the Enzo E Dino Ferrari racing circuit.
