The McLaren F1 team has proved extremely competitive during the 2024 season. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have been firing on all cylinders and the Woking-based outfit is only eight points behind Red Bull heading to Baku.
McLaren’s CEO Zak Brown is well aware of the heroics of his team and has thus, indirectly fired warning shots toward rivals for the remainder of the campaign. Brown genuinely feels the papaya can contest for both championships.

In the driver’s tussle, Lando Norris is currently 62 points behind Max Verstappen in the standings.
I don't see why we can't be going for the win every race weekend. We are going to have tough competition, but we have shown that our car is good in all kinds of conditions, on all different types of circuits.Zak Brown via Sky F1
Brown has emphasized MCL38’s versatility in all kinds of conditions and tracks. McLaren’s challenger has followed an upward trajectory and it has recently been made known by team principal Andrea Stella, that there is more in the pipeline in terms of upgrades.
McLaren deems Azerbaijan GP as a bit of a ‘crazy race’
While Brown is upbeat about McLaren’s chances for the remainder of 2024, ahead of next week’s race in Baku, he has deemed it a crazy event. The tight and twisty nature of the Baku City Circuit has often led to cars banging wheels and even getting into hefty crashes.

Last year, Red Bull managed a 1-2 finish at the track and the same would be the target for the Mclaren duo of Norris and Piastri.
We were very strong in Singapore last year, and Baku is always a bit of a crazy race, but we are going to show up every weekend and go for pole, the front-row lockout and try to win.Zak Brown via the same interview
Only eight Grand Prix are remaining in the ongoing season. The lights of Red Bull, Mercedes, and Ferrari are all going to come after the in-form McLaren, and considering this, it’s going to be fascinating to see how things will pan out on the track going forward. Next week’s 51-lap race around the Baku City Circuit could give a taste of things to come between the top four teams.
