Mercedes Technical Director, James Allison has named Lewis Hamilton as his pick for the best racing driver ever in F1. Allison has worked with both Michael Schumacher and Hamilton during their championship-winning periods of dominance.

Lewis Hamilton has won a staggering six championship titles at Mercedes, with James Allison being there all along, witnessing absolute moments of greatness from the British Driver. Michael Schumacher is another notable name among the greats who have raced for Mercedes but contrary to the seven world titles that the German has won, he was not a magical performer for the Silver Arrows during the later stint of his career.

Allison: I have said, I think before as well, he's the best racing car driver that's ever been.
Podcast host: And that's coming from a man who has worked with Michael Schumacher.
Allison: Yeah, another utterly remarkable person, but if I had a gun against the head, had to choose the best person, I would pick Lewis.

James Allison concluded that the seven-time world champion’s presence will be thoroughly missed in Mercedes as he moves on to write a new chapter in his life. Lewis Hamilton will now look to establish the same legacy for Ferrari that he did in Mercedes as he chases a record eighth world championship in his glorious career.

I’m always a bit worried when you’ve been carried away that everything seems to now be falling into place, because this is a difficult sport. We’ve had this positive trajectory now for the last three races and everything seems to be making much more sense. The stopwatch will tell us.
Toto Wolff post the Canadian Grand Prix

Toto Wolff said that Mercedes has had a difficult start to the season and was missing some crucial information regarding their issues and hindrances, which they have managed to understand and resolve over the past three races. However, the Austrian is also wary of its competitors and is not willing to make a bold prediction before the first lap times in Barcelona show up.

Mercedes is currently fourth in the championship and has managed to score one podium across nine races. But the Silver Arrows boast a confident history of performing well in Barcelona which is the prime aspect that they will be looking to utilize this weekend in search of a win and podiums.
