Sergio Perez had a disappointing performance at the Spanish GP, finishing in the top 10 and scoring only four points for the team. Whereas, his teammate Max Verstappen won the race and earned 25 points, giving Red Bull a good lead.

Dutch racing driver, Michael Bleekemolen expressed his opinion on Mexican, he said people are starting to question Sergio Perez‘s two-year contract extension. He reckoned that Red Bull might be thinking about this as well but could be acting like they don’t care. However, the Dutchman highlighted that winning the constructors championship remains priority for the team because it brings financial benefits. This indicates Checo’s performance is crucial not only for him but for teams success as well.

You do wonder that now. I'm sure they will wonder that too, but maybe they will think: 'we don't care'. Of course they do care about the constructors' championship and that will bring in money again.

Bleekemolen further commented that if the Mexican continues to underperform, despite his contract extension, it would lead to negative consequences for him. Red Bull can ensure his exit even before 2026. The Dutchman claimed that the team might be confused and uncertain about how to address Perez’s situation for the next racing season. He hinted that contracts in Formula 1 may be broken if the driver doesn’t benefit or meet performance expectations.

That will be a downside for Perez then and it might be an exit before 2026 for him. But I think they will be scratching their heads anyway: 'What should we do for next year?' Because contracts are made there to be broken, not to be enforced

Michael Bleekemolen claims Carlos Sainz an ideal replacement for Sergio Perez

Michael Bleekemolen speaking to media emphasized, Perez is not the right option for Red Bull. He pointed out Carlos Sainz can be a good choice for the seat in the team, as the driver doesn’t have seat for 2025 yet. Sainz may not perform at the level of Max Verstappen, but he’s not far behind. This could benefit Red Bull, as they prefer Verstappen be the leading drivers and don’t want his teammate to outperform him.

I would look toward Sainz ,He doesn't have a seat yet. Again, Sainz is not at the level of Max, but he is only a little bit behind. And that's obviously good for the team, because they don't want Max to be beaten by a team-mate.

Bleekemolen mentioned driver like Carlos Sainz would be a good choice for Red Bull. He highlighted, the Spaniard’s reliability that he doesn’t crash much, which would benefit the team. The 74-year-old’s belief showed, Sainz could be a stable and effective addition to the team, contributing to their overall performance and strategy in races.

That's not going to happen either, so then someone like [Sainz] is good. Sainz doesn't crash much and I think that would be a good one.
Michael Bleekemolen stated

Certainly, Michael Bleekemolen believes Red Bull could break Perez’s contract and he might have to exit even before 2026. He suggested, Red Bull must choose Carlos Sainz over Perez to benefit the team. However, fans hope for a better performance from Sergio Perez in the upcoming races, where he can show his capabilities and prove his worth.
