Mick Schumacher had received a highly coveted opportunity to race in Formula 1 with Haas back in 2021. Michael Schumacher‘s son was unable to fetch performances impressive enough to keep him on the grid beyond 2022. Despite multiple driver’s spot openings for the 2025 season, Schumacher was snubbed from a seat in all the teams.

Mick Schumacher has continued racing for Alpine in the Le Mans alongside being a reserve driver for Mercedes for the 2024 season. The 25-year-old was reportedly considered for a seat at Brackley amidst Lewis Hamilton’s move to Ferrari. However, as depicted by the events, Schumacher did not receive a seat, even in Alpine, and had to completely depart from all roles in Formula 1.

Speaking upon a failed F1 stint, Schumacher revealed that he still dreamed of a spot back in the sport. The 25-year-old assured that despite his wishes, his focus and priority lay in the WEC. However, the German accepted that there were still times when he dreamed about coming back to the pinnacle of motorsport and receiving an opportunity to race.

My dream is my dream. When I’m in the car, I’m 100 per cent there. That means that when I’m in the WEC environment and racing, my thoughts are 100 per cent there. But when I have free time, the dream lives on.

Mick Schumacher told RTL.

Mick Schumacher recounted the ‘tough year’ at WEC

Mick Schumacher could only score a handful of impressive performances in the WEC alongside Alpine. The 25-year-old opened up and claimed that he suffered from a ‘tough year’ in the Le Mans due to the back-to-back racing weekends. Schumacher recalled that he was tired by the end of the day despite being a reserve driver for some of the races.

It was obviously a very tough year, we had quite a few weekends back to back, going from one race to the next. Even if you could say that the reserve driver doesn’t do that much – it’s still long days. I was already relatively tired at the end of the year.

Mick Schumacher noted.

Haas’ performance during Schumacher’s time wasn’t impressive, to say the least. Due to this, the 25-year-old couldn’t score performances well enough to keep himself around. Many people have made the ‘right place, wrong time’ remark on the German’s failed career in Formula 1. Regardless, Michael Scumacher’s son will have to make do with what he has got and aim to improve in the WEC.
