21-year-old Enzo Fittipaldi made his debut in Formula 2 with Charouz in 2021, and in this current season of the junior racing championship, the Fittipaldi heir was signed for a full driver contract. And now that the 2022 season of F2 Championship is at its last leg, the motorsports world got the surprising news that Red Bull will be taking Enzo Fittipaldi under its wing for the next year.
Announcing the news on his official Twitter handle, Enzo Fittipaldi posted his picture with Dr. Helmut Marko and released a statement regarding his recruitment to Carlin, Red Bull’s F2 racing team. Many of the news outlets had already predicted such a move by the British team as Helmut Marko had been spotted in talks with Fittipaldi on several occasions, such as the Dutch Grand Prix of this year.

As of now, Enzo Fittipaldi is sixth in the F2 World Championship, with three P2 finishes (at Imola, Red Bull Ring, and Hungaroring) and three P3 finishes to his name. Up ahead, the grandson of former Lotus racer Emerson Fittipaldi will be seen fighting for some last-minute points at the F2 finale in Abu Dhabi before the final World Championship result is announced.

“He was always there on top”: Helmut Marko indicates that he had his eyes on Enzo Fittipaldi for a long time

As the World Championship-winning team of this year, Red Bull has been a favorite for all the aspiring F1 racers who are currently contesting in Formula 2. But leaving all his rivals behind, Enzo Fittipaldi finally managed to secure a seat at Carlin for himself. Speaking on Enzo’s abilities behind the wheel, Red Bull Chief Advisor Helmut Marko said, “He was always there on the top. I think he had his ups and downs. And now he knows there’s a chance. He will be with Carlin, which is a top team. And he’s a character.”
??Estou muito feliz em anunciar que agora faço parte da família RedBull! Muito obrigado Dr. Marko e Christian Horner pela oportunidade.

Carlin’s racers can always move up to the F1 teams of Red Bull and its sister team AlphaTauri if they end up impressing the executives in charge of hiring for Red Bull. Thus, a massive opportunity lies ahead of Enzo Fittipaldi in terms of his racing career, and it only remains to be seen how he cashes in on the chances to become a Formula 1 racer like his grandfather Emerson Fittipaldi.
