Alex Albon, the Williams F1 driver, produced a sensational 2023 campaign. He was on it from the get-go and was often seen battling it out with the regular midfield runners. Albon feels he has become a better driver and today, if he is presented with the opportunity to drive a Red Bull, he will certainly do better than his previous stint.

Alex Albon was entrusted with the second Red Bull seat alongside Max Verstappen during the midway point of the 2019 campaign. However, during his time with them, he was not able to perform as per expectations, and thus, was sidelined at the end of the 2020 F1 season in favor of current driver, Sergio Perez.

While Albon has found himself a proper home at Williams, he believes he could have done better for Red Bull with the knowledge he has today. While shedding light on the same, he said, as reported by RaceFans;

Other drivers who went through difficult phases in their careers, like Daniel Ricciardo at McLaren, had a hard time feeling comfortable in the car. So we tried to make me feel comfortable in the Red Bull. That somehow never really worked out. With the knowledge I have today, I could have done it. But in hindsight, it’s easy to say.

Looking at the reaction of the Thai-British driver is safe to assume that he somewhat regrets how his golden chance with the Red Bull F1 team panned out. Moreover, feels had he had the knowledge he has today, he could have done wonderful things with the Austrian team during his time with them.

Alex Albon is an out-an-out leader at Williams F1

While Alex Albon has given a view into how he looks back at his Red Bull stint, since joining Williams, he has totally transformed the trajectory of his F1 career. It is firmly on the way up and today, he has become the lead driver and a prominent figure on the Grove-based Williams F1 team.

During last year’s campaign at the pinnacle of motor racing, Albon was able to amass a highly impressive 27 points in the lackluster FW45. Whereas his teammate, Logan Sargeant, was only able to contribute a single point to the overall total of the team in the Constructors standings.

Keeping in view everything that has been discussed above, the 2024 F1 season will be an important one for the career of Alex Albon. If he manages to perform well again this year, there could arise a scenario where he could see himself driving from any one of the top teams in the sport.
