The 2024 season has commenced, with Max Verstappen dominating the first two rounds. Subsequently, this showcase has made fans deem the campaign boring. Now, Alex Albon has insisted that the Dutchman’s might is not the whole part of the story and that the F1 grid has gotten closer in terms of racing.
Max Verstappen continued his winning streak in Saudi Arabia in his dominant RB20. Moreover, this is Verstappen’s ninth Grand Prix win in succession and now he is ever closer to matching his previous record of ten wins in a row at next week’s race in Melbourne.
While addressing the media regarding Verstappen’s might and the overall competitiveness in the sport, Albon stated:
In some ways, it’s a bit of a shame to see comments about Max and it being a boring season, because it’s totally not that, at least from my perspective. Because you take him out of the equation, you have one of the best grids, the best fields, the tightest grids ever in Formula 1. And even if you include Max, still it’s the tightest field in Formula 1.Alex Albon said as reported by Racefans
The Thai-British driver was not happy with the comments made in the F1 community at the current state of racing in the sport. Moreover, the 27-year-old gave his views and stated that if we do not consider the situation at the front, it is one of the closest grids in terms of competition. Subsequently, this could also be seen at the Saudi Arabian GP as there was a huge scrap for the last point-paying positions during the race.
Alex Albon on a chance to drive for Mercedes
With the current situation ongoing at Mercedes, where the team is in a tough position to replace an outgoing Lewis Hamilton, Albon could appear as one of the candidates for the highly contested seat. Moreover, in a recent media interaction, the Williams driver explained his views on the chance to drive for the Silver Arrows.
When asked about his prospects going forward, Albon stated:
I would be denying it if I said that there have [not] been questions and general chats surrounding around that. But truthfully it's not really personally my area, that's more my management. My focus is on driving.Alex Albon said as reported by Racingnews365
Albon elaborated that he had thought about moving to the Silver Arrows. Although he is currently contracted to Williams, he would like a move to one of the top teams on the grid.
However, Alex Albon is focusing on making the most out of his current season. Moreover, he was the sole reason for Williams’s success last year. Subsequently, Albon would like to recreate his success from last year and perform even better.
