Alex Albon puts Red Bull woes behind him, says he is more confident than ever in a ‘nervous’ Williams car

Alex Albon
When Alex Albon was promoted from Alpha Tauri to Red Bull in the middle of the 2019 season of Formula 1, the media went into a frenzy covering the incident. Following that, all eyes were on the Thai racer who had just won the third spot in the Formula 1 World Championship, and was getting the opportunity to drive for Red Bull in his debut year in F1. But his days in the British outfit were numbered as his contract was not renewed in 2021 when Red Bull decided to sign Racing Point alum Sergio Perez for the second seat in the team as Max Verstappe’s partner.
Due to the lack of any prospective seats, Alex Albon had to sit out the 2021 season of Formula 1, and he stayed as a test driver for Red Bull. Now, Albon is back in Formula 1 with Williams where he took George Russell’s seat as the Briton went to Mercedes to partner with Lewis Hamilton. Alex Albon has performed well in his debut year with Williams, having scored some points for the team as well. Thus, Alex Albon has described how he feels a lot more confident driving for Williams than he did when he was at Red Bull.

Alex Albon reckons Williams has helped him regain his confidence in racing

Alex Albon has admitted that he could never deliver his best when he was in Red Bull because he did not feel confident enough. And then, he had to sit out for one entire F1 season, and when he came back as a Williams driver, it helped him attain some confidence in himself. While, point-wise, Williams has not been having the best time right now, Albon is still sure that this year with the British team has helped him feel positively about himself.
Speaking on his time in the Williams car, Alex Albon said, “I’d say the most positive thing I felt is, even though I had a year away, I feel like I’m confident in myself. I’m feeling good in the car.”
Alex Albon also made the shocking statement that the last time when he felt like he was on top of a car was way back during his Toro Rosso days. This means that, when the racer was in Red Bull, he never felt that good about his car.
