Alex Albon who drove for the Red Bull Formula One team in 2019 and 2020 has talked about the bond that Max Verstappen and his race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase share. Moreover, Albon believes Max Verstappen has a strong eye for the technique that is very well complimented by Lambiase.

Alex Albon and Max Verstappen have known each other for a very long time. The duo met during their karting days and while Verstappen was the one who made it first to F1 and Red Bull, Albon soon followed his mate by joining the Milton-Keynes-based outfit in 2019 when Pierre Gasly was demoted to AlphaTauri.

However, the 26-year-old was the Dutchman’s teammate for only 26 races. While he sat the 2020 year out of an F1 car, he was allowed to work behind the scenes for Red Bull in simulation work. It was the only way in which he was able to make some contribution to the 2021 title triumph of Max Verstappen.

Albon believes that Verstappen was insanely mature during their time together and while talking about it said, “He is very strong on that level. First of all, he can drive around problems very well. That is really impressive.

Max Verstappen has shown exponential growth since he arrived in F1 and from the beginning, Verstappen and Lambiase have worked together.

Albon feels the bond that the duo has is very rare and while stressing about it said, “The bond that Max has with his engineer (Gianpiero Lambiase, ed.) is impressive. They rarely talk about details, because they understand each other so well. During a race weekend, they don’t need to talk about the setup of the car for hours, sometimes they even have the car in order after ten or fifteen minutes.

Their partnership has been fruitful for the Red bull team and one of the main reasons behind it is the strong understanding that they have developed over the years.

Moreover, Albon has revealed that Max has got full faith in the Red Bull team that works for him and has added, “That creates a balance: Max works hard, but when he’s not on a circuit, he wants to relax. That way he can focus on what matters, winning.”

After looking at what Alex Albon has said and considering the current season, it seems that Alex Albon is 100 percent correct in his assessment and it will be interesting to see whether Verstappen and Co. will be able to maintain their strong run in the second leg of the season.
