Any Formula 1 fan would say that McLaren is one of the few teams that always score full points when it comes to their advertisements and publicity stunts, and the Woking-based team proved this point once again. McLaren recently scored a new sponsor–Jack Daniel’s, and they released their first commercial with the liquor company from Tennessee. The teaser for the ad featuring the papaya duo of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri dropped on Twitter a few days ago, getting the fans all excited to see what “Landoscar” had in store for them.

In the days following the teaser release, the Twitter admins for McLaren’s official handle decided to launch the full video. The theme of the advertisement showed Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri trying their hands at bartending as the two made their signature mocktails. While both the racers seemed quite nervous with their first attempts at concocting a mocktail, the outcome was not as bad as one would have imagined.

Joining Lando and Oscar for the video was Jack Daniel’s UK brand ambassador Cam Dawson. The three were spotted at a bar, where Cam perched on his stool while the McLaren teammates played around with a myriad of ingredients to make the perfect blend. While Lando Norris chose raspberry as the main flavor for his drink, Oscar Piastri stayed true to his new team as he said, “I’m dressed in a lot of papaya, so, I reckon we should go for something papaya?” And then the two proceeded to make the concoctions for their “mixology mocktail” video.

Towards the end of last year’s season, McLaren welcomed Jack Daniel’s as their new multi-year sponsor, and now, fans have gotten the first video of the McLaren duo taking part in a campaign for the whiskey brewers. But many of the F1 die-hards are concerned whether Lando and Oscar are old enough to feature in an ad for a liquor brand as the former is infamous for his childish nature and his “love for milk” while the latter is F1’s first racer to have been born in the 21st century.

But amidst all this fun and frolic, McLaren’s poor performance in the first three Grands Prix of the 2023 season is glaringly obvious. Now, it remains to be seen whether Zak Brown’s team makes up for their results in the upcoming races as the Azerbaijan Grand Prix looms closer.
