‘As a birthday present, teach him how to wink’: F1 Twitter reacts to Carlos Sainz wishing Charles Leclerc on his birthday
Carlos Sainz (L) and Charles Leclerc (R)
Today is Charles Leclerc’s birthday. The Monegasque driver turns 25 today, and any birthday is an occasion for joy. It is quite incredible to think that he is just around 2 weeks younger than Max Verstappen, and that just shows how much longer the Dutchman has been in the sport.
His teammate, Carlos Sainz, also took to social media to wish Leclerc on his birthday. The Ferrari duo are known to have a cordial relationship, despite the media debates raging on about the number 1 driver in the media. When it was Sainz’s birthday, Leclerc had hidden in a closet to surprise him.
Unfortunately, it’s not clear if Sainz also has such a surprise planned, but it is certainly a possibility. Sainz’s choice of words has sent Twitter into a bit of a frenzy, but it is clearly meant to be an endearing use of the word ‘cabrón’, even if the word can often be considered to be offensive.
Fans to Carlos Sainz: Perfect time to invite Charles Leclerc for hamburgers
The literal translation of cabrón is a ‘male goat’ even if it is definitely not used in this way. But one fan did pick up on that, using that as the basis of his own joke. Explanation: GOAT – Greatest of all time.
It also emerged that Charles Leclerc does not follow back Carlos Sainz, on Twitter at least.
One fan posted the same picture, but taken from a different angle.
One fan posted a video of Leclerc asking Sainz to invite him over for hamburgers. The Spaniard argued that Leclerc always said he was too busy, while the Monegasque argued that he was never invited. This is certainly a good occasion for hamburgers.
Charles Leclerc does not have many flaws. But the man does struggle with winking, and perhaps Carlos Sainz can give him lessons in that regard.
Some people were just happy to be getting C2 content. C2 is the name of their ‘ship’, like ‘Carlando‘ was the name for Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris’ friendship.
There will definitely be more C2 content as the championship comes to a close. Unfortunately, the championship itself has rather run away from Ferrari this year, and they’ll have to try again in 2023, for the first championships in almost 15 years.
