“As a massive golf fan, everyone dreams of going to play Augusta” : Lando Norris fulfills dream of playing golf at Augusta following the Miami GP
Lando Norris
Lando Norris recently got to fulfill every golfer’s desire after the Miami Grand Prix by playing a round at Augusta. With a two-week gap between Miami and the Spanish Grand Prix, the drivers were permitted some leisure time in the United States, which meant hitting the links for Norris. But this was no usual golf excursion, as he and McLaren CEO Zak Brown travelled to Augusta National for a round.
In an interview ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix, Norris discussed playing at Augusta National as a golfer’s fantasy and the version of winning the Monaco Grand Prix. “I think Zak got invited. We just know a couple of people who are members there and very kindly they invited us to go out and play. Zak has played before, so he had a bit of an advantage on me. But as a massive golf fan, everyone dreams of going to play Augusta,” said the McLaren driver.
Augusta National Golf Club, also known as Augusta or the National, is a golf course located in Augusta, Georgia, United States. Unlike the majority of private establishments which function as non-profits, Augusta National is a for-profit organisation that does not reveal its earnings, shareholding, list of members, or ticket revenue.

“And I mean, I know a lot of people who have wanted to for years and years and years and never got to play, so I got bragging rights to say that I’ve managed to play,” added the 22-year-old driver on his experience at the exclusive Augusta Golf Club.
He wasn’t the only present F1 driver who played golf during the two-week rest period, but for Williams driver Alex Albon, it was more about observing than attempting to play. Albon said he came to support his girlfriend, pro golfer Lily Muni.
“Lando got the privilege of playing. I was watching my girlfriend, so I was on the LPGA Tour, kind of thing. If I was playing in the LPGA tour that wouldn’t have been good but yes, I was supporting her. And then I went to New York, which was nice and then came back and actually played some golf with Lando. He loves it, absolutely loves it. You’re going to improve when you play five, six days a week,” said the Williams driver.
