Fernando Alonso has been the main man at Aston Martin, that much has been transparent. Lance Stroll has not been scoring nearly as much as his teammate. But the massive gap in performance between the drivers has finally prompted their Team Principal’s comment.

Mike Krack was asked about the team’s expectations from Stroll following a supposedly disappointing season so far. He replied agreeing that more was needed from Lance but concluded that Aston, as a team, hasn’t been able to provide the 24-year-old with the necessary hardware.

“Yeah, I agree. The first step that we have to take is to come back to also offering him the hardware to do it, which we have not done, we have failed to do so lately”, said the Team Principal [according to Express]. Lance’s father, Lawrence Stroll owns the Aston Martin Team so comments like these don’t come as a surprise.

Aston Martin is said to ‘only play with Lionel Messi’ as Lance Stroll is criticized

Joan Villadelprat, former Formula 1 team boss, has commented on the performance gap between Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso. Villadelprat believes Aston Martin cannot only bank on Alonso to bring in results every time.

He made an analogy of a football club playing with arguably the greatest player in history. Villadelprat said, “With Fernando Alonso in the team, Aston Martin is playing only with Messi. They need someone else to help him because they are not going to win with only one driver.

Fernando Alonso has been the guiding light for Aston Martin this year while Stroll hasn’t even landed himself a podium finish yet. The British outfit will need to act upon Stroll’s performance if they are to dream of finishing runners-up to Red Bull this year.
