Mike Krack claims Aston Martin did not copy Red Bull’s designs to achieve success
Aston Martin made stellar progress over the winter break before the 2023 F1 season. Fernando Alonso was the best-of-the-rest behind Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez in the first half of the year. Critics alleged that the Silverstone-based squad had copied Red Bull’s designs with the help of former Red Bull engineers including Fallows.
Mike Krack highlighted that when regulations stay relatively stable year on year. As such there was a general trend of convergence in terms of car development. The Aston Martin team boss claimed that the entire grid was slowing converging to a similar philosophy to that of Adrian Newey and Red Bull. As such, the 52-year-old made it clear that there was nothing different at Silverstone.
We know the cars are all converging to a similar philosophy, so I don't think there is anything special on ours compared to the others, to be honest.Mike Krack concluded
Aston Martin has fallen behind the likes of Ferrari and McLaren since the start of last season. The Silverstone-based team currently sits fifth in the standings one point behind Mercedes. However, the British team would need to bring in some major in-season upgrades to potentially challenge for race victories this year.
