Aston Martin saw a dramatic rise in their performances at the start of the season. With six podiums in the opening eight races, they seemed unstoppable, with vetran Fernando Alonso leading the line. However, their fall in form has been as dramatic as their rise, as they only managed to finish as high as P5 in the last four races.

Their performance director Tom McCullough addressed the issue as he hinted towards future upgrades to their car, the AMR-23. McCullough said that the team is working on the all-around development of their car rather than focusing on just one aspect. He claimed that Aston Martin mostly competes in corners and straight-line speed and that they understand the car’s current situation going forward.

“The developments that are coming in the second half of the season are already actually addressing some of the areas. Of course you try to address the areas you’re not as strong in,” McCullough told RaceFans.

He also claimed that Aston Martin is all set to bring a continuous array of upgrades after the summer break. He claimed that they still have a good amount of finances left, and they plan to develop the car as much as they can in the latter half of this season.

“I think really from Zandvoort onwards, we’re going to have some continuous development as we’ve done all year. We still have good budget left to keep developing our car hard. And that’s our plan for the second half of the season,” he added.

24-year-old Lance Stroll has been racing in the shadow of his teammate Fernando Alonso for the 2023 season. With just 47 points, he is behind Alonso by 102 points in the WDC standings.  Many even believe Stroll only retains his seat due to his father, Lawrence Stroll’s team ownership. Stroll recently came out and admitted how far behind he is from Alonso.

Although Stroll has given some good results and finished ahead of Alonso on some occasions, it is still not enough for him to be saved from the heavy criticism. Stroll said that Alonso had made little to no mistakes throughout the season and has been getting the most out of their car. He says that he is focusing on himself rather than getting demotivated by how well his teammate is doing.

“He’s [Alonso] just been at a really high level throughout the whole season, and delivering that kind of A-plus kind of performance every week, when I’ve had a few kind of A’s, but I’ve had some Cs and it’s been a little bit more challenging. But a lot of racing left to go,” Stroll was quoted by MotorSport.
