The Aston Martin Formula 1 team has been on the rise during the ongoing 2023 F1 season and has made it crystal clear they will not copy the Red Bulls floor design on display for everybody during the Monaco Grand Prix. The engineers at the Silverstone-based team strongly believe that it is important for the team to focus on its philosophies.

Aston Martin was dwindling toward the lower end of the grid during the 2022 season but, since the appointment of Dan Fallows, has witnessed a major upturn in its form. The team is currently third in the Constructors Championship and is only 13 points behind the Toto Wolff-led Mercedes F1 team.

Aston Martin is competing with the top dogs of the sport this year, and Dan Fallows, while talking about the team, told motorsport, “We have our own philosophies, and we have our own ways of approaching things, and really there’s a lot of optimization in things like the floor. The reason that you see the details on the surface is because we’ll spend a huge amount of time trying to optimize these surfaces.”

So it’s important for us that we carry on our development path. We think it is providing a rich seam of development. We’ve seen another update on that [in Canada] so it’s important for us that we use that going forward,” Dan Fallows added. The innovative minds on the Aston Martin team strongly believe they are heading in the right direction with their approach.

While Dan Fallows had admitted that Aston Martin is not going to follow what Red Bull has done with its floor design on the RB19, he has revealed that his team is continuously trying to make its car better. While talking about the same, he added, “We are trying to put consistent developments on the car, rather than wait for a few races and then have a big update.”

While visually it was the most different, it’s not necessarily the biggest in terms of performance. Although hopefully, it will be a step.” Aston Martin is bringing small updates regularly to the car, and it could be one of the reasons why Fernando Alonso has been able to put up some spirited performances in the cockpit of the AMR23.

The ongoing F1 campaign is nine rounds down, and there are still 14 events remaining on the calendar, starting from the upcoming Austrian GP. Aston Martin is in a tight battle with the lights of Ferrari and Mercedes this year, and considering how the season has panned out so far, several eyes are again going to be on them at the Red Bull ring.
