Dan Fallows is one of Aston Martin’s biggest hires when it comes to their development plan for the upcoming seasons. With the involvement of many great minds, the 2023 iteration of their challenger was on a different level at the start of the season. However, as time has progressed, their pace has also kept dropping.

Between the Bahrain and Canadian GP, Aston Martin managed to grab six podiums with all of which were earned by Fernando Alonso. On the other hand, Lance Stroll hasn’t been able to procure similar results. At the start of the season, the British team sat comfortably in second place in the constructors standings. However, the recovery made by Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren has left them in the dust.

Aston Martin’s technical director, Dan Fallows is keen on changing this. Here is what he had to say about the ongoing situation in an interview.Since the beginning of the season we have seen that the margins are incredibly small. We have a competitive car,” he said. “We have not stopped developing the car and it will continue to be so until the end of the season, although we will also use those developments for next year. We are ready to fight,” he adds.

Fernando Alonso had a 25 second pitstop at Singapore

Fernando Alonso was racing on worn tires and was not able to muster up any pace to catch up with the rest. After coming in for a pitstop, team’s rear jack failed to engage properly, which led to a loss of 25 seconds. With 17 laps left to race, Alonso was out of the points and had a huge disadvantage. With the massive pace difference to the other teams, this acted as yet another pothole in Aston Martin’s path towards regaining P2 in the constructors.

While the team tries to achieve this dream, it seems like Fernando Alonso is the one who is effectively succeeding in his efforts. However, it is a two man job and Lance Stroll just hasn’t been able to make any significant improvements in his performances. While there were rumors of him retiring and shifting to Tennis, they have been quashed by the Canadian. It will be interesting to see what happens in the near future with regards to the team’s position in the championship standings.
