In a massive development ever since the announcement of their entry into Formula 1 in 2026, Audi have given the Chinese F1 fans a sneak peak of their Formula One project at the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition. The event will run from April 18 to 27, and the visitors can view the plans that Audi have conceived for their F1 participation three years from now. The German manufacturers will be seen taking part in the pinnacle of motorsports as a power unit supplier for Sauber as they have acquired a minority stake in the Swiss team.

As per the reports, the chassis manufacturing is set to happen at a Sauber facility in Hinwil while the power unit is going to be constructed at the Audi facility in Neuburg, Bavaria. Alongwith the first look at the Audi Formula One project, their executives also gave an update on how their power unit construction is coming up. Audi CEO Markus Duesmann made an appearance at a press conference at the Auto Shanghai to discuss how they plan to move towards a spectacular entry into F1 2026.

Oliver Hoffman, Member of the Board of Management for Technical Development at Audi, spoke of the developments that Audi has already made in accordance with their Formula One plan. He said, “The Audi Formula 1 project has really taken off in recent months. In the ongoing concept phase of the power unit, the foundation of our drivetrain for 2026 is being laid today. After all, efficiency is a key success factor for Formula 1 and the mobility of the future, these approaches will advance both worlds.”

The joining of Audi in Formula 1 will serve under their motto of “F1 Power made in Germany”. The car manufacturing mogul have already started work to present their F1 project to the world at the Shanghai exhibition, and their CEO gave an insight into what lies ahead for them. He said, “Motorsport is an integral part of our DNA. We are convinced that our Formula 1 commitment will strengthen Audi’s sporting focus. The racing series is continuously increasing its global reach, especially among young target groups and in our most important sales market: China.”

With Audi entering Formula 1, Mercedes will lose its status of being the only German manufacturers in the play at the world’s highest stage of motorsports racing. Now, it remains to be seen which manufacturer comes out on top in the competition in the future editions of F1.
