Austrian GP 2022 Qualifying Results: Max Verstappen claims pole position in the Red Bull Ring

Max Verstappen after clinching pole position in the Austrian GP qualifying session
Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen has claimed yet another pole position at the Red Bull Ring. The Dutch driver made the Orange Army go into a frenzy in the stands as he clinched P1 after a qualifying session riddled with red flag incidents.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc who’s currently placed third in the World Drivers’ Standings with a total of 138 points is going to start from P2 tomorrow at the Red Bull-favoured track. Leclerc’s teammate Carlos Sainz, who clinched his maiden F1 victory at Silverstone last weekend will be starting right behind Leclerc from P3.
After a fantastic weekend at the British Grand Prix, America-based racing team Haas has managed to replicate a positive result by having both drivers Kevin Magnussen and Mick Schumacher qualify for Q3. Alpine duo Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon are going to start from P9 and P6 respectively.

The Dutch driver had the most unanticipated reaction after claiming pole position in a crucial qualifying session as this one. “Not bad, not bad,” said Verstappen after reclaiming P1 from chief competitor Charles Leclerc in the last minute of the qualifying session.
7-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton was gutted after his W13 crashed into the wall in Q3. The Mercedes driver was displaying quite the pace in the tricky W13 until the crash. Mercedes later confirmed that the driver is okay and that he’s looking forward to make up ground tomorrow after red-flagging the qualifying session along with teammate George Russell.
“Damn, I am so sorry guys. I’m so sorry for damaging the car,” said Hamilton on the team radio following the crash. George Russell also faced a similar fate as Hamilton as he crashed his W13 into the wall. The Mercedes driver spun off in Turn 10. Former F1 driver Romain Grosjean tweeted on his failed wish of Lewis Hamilton starting from P1 tomorrow.
