The Azerbaijan GP is in full swing. The Qualifying session was filled with some thrilling action that engrossed the fans, such as the crashes of Nyck de Vries and Pierre Gasly. However, the biggest surprise from the session was Charles Leclerc’s outstanding performance in beating Max Verstappen for the Pole position. Subsequently, Lewis Hamilton decided to have a look at Leclerc’s SF23.

As Qualifying came to an end and drivers parked their cars at parc ferme, the British driver went straight to the Ferrari of the Monegasque driver. The 38-year-old took a trick out of his former rival Sebastian Vettel‘s handbook as Hamilton looked keenly at the SF23. The Scuderia had brought upgrades for this round of the season that could’ve played a role in the team’s new-found pace.

Lewis Hamilton stood in front of Charles Leclerc‘s car for a few seconds, possibly with a mission to provide his findings to Mercedes as the Silver Arrows fell behind in the pecking order during Qualifying. Certainly, this peek by the 38-year-old is a sign of the work Ferrari has been doing as the Italian team intrigued the 7-time world champion to get a closer look.

“Hopefully looking at his next season’s drive” – Fans after Lewis Hamilton took a look at the Ferrari SF23

Fans on Twitter were amused by this incident. Although a few fans believed that Hamilton could not match Vettel in such spy activities. One fan said, “he doesn’t have Seb’s aura.” While one user speculated if the 38-year-old was looking at his future driver amidst rumors of the British driver joining Ferrari. The user wrote, “Hopefully looking at his next season’s drive.“

Similarly, another user wondered if the British driver was taking a look at the Ferrari to help Mercedes copy the side pod design of the Scuderia. The user commented, “planning on stealing those side pods right off the Ferrari.” Whereas one fan warned Lewis Hamilton not to touch the car to avoid a heavy fine from the FIA. The fan replied, “No touching the car Lewis.”

Thus, Lewis Hamilton seemed interested in Leclerc’s Ferrari after Qualifying at the Azerbaijan GP. The 38-year-old had a rather unexciting session as the British driver could only manage P5 behind the two Red Bulls and Ferraris. However, this was the first instance this season when Hamilton managed to outqualify teammate George Russell who starts P11.
