The Formula 1 paddock recently witnessed an entry of an eleventh, albeit fictional, team on the grid. Former world champion Lewis Hamilton is part of the Apple Studios project on a film on F1, with Hollywood icon Brad Pitt taking the lead. Pitt got the chance to hit the track at Silverstone for APXGP. The Actor even extended an offer for F1 commentator Martin Brundle.

The American icon gave an insight into his character in the film. Pitt will be playing the role of Sonny Hayes on the big screen. The 59-year-old revealed the background of Hayes, stating that the driver had previously raced in F1 back in the 1990s before making a return in the sport’s modern era. He said, “I would be a guy who raced in the 90s.”

Martin Brundle has had a tradition of interviewing drivers and stars on the grid before the F1 race start. Subsequently, Brad Pitt mentioned that Brundle would have to make a small cameo to interview Sonny Hayes in the movie. Pitt stated, “In fact, I would have been on the track with you at some point, so you’ve got to do a cameo.” Brundle instantly agreed to this prospect and said he would ‘love to’ oblige.

The highly-anticipated F1 film is a dream project for Lewis Hamilton, who also serves as the executive producer. Although as of yet, the movie remains untitled. Yet, the production has begun in full swing with the introduction of APXGP in the Silverstone pit lane. Moreover, Brad Pitt had the chance to take the APXGP car on the track during the weekend, with more running to come.

The APXGP F1 car is a modified F2 chassis with assistance provided by Mercedes, as the team will be portrayed to be running customer power units from Brackley. The fictional team will be conducting more running during the Pirelli tire test at Silverstone this week. With Brad Pitt’s APXGP set to appear at more races this season.

Thus, Brad Pitt seems to have convinced F1 pundit Martin Brundle to appear in this massive F1 film. Certainly, Brundle taking an interview of Pitt as Sonny Hayes would make the story more realistic for fans of the sport. This indeed dwells perfectly with the film’s aim to provide an authentic portrayal of the sport on the big screen.
