Being fourth on the constructor’s standings, Ferrari is far from having a title-winning season they have been deemed to have from 2022. Ferrari have displayed a lot of inconsistency in their performances, which, coupled with their questionable team strategies, have hurt their title hopes hard. Carlos Sainz recently spoke out against their budget cap as he believes it has limited Ferrari’s development.
He admitted that the issue with the wind sensitivity of his car will not be fixed this season due to budget restrictions. He mentioned Ferrari’s unpredictable results, saying that the margin between the races is not very high and that consistency could be achieved. Sainz was also very optimistic about his car for the next season.
“It’s just that during a year, it is quite tricky, especially in [the] budget era. It’s quite tricky to suddenly change everything, but the direction has been given and we are now back in the factory, in the simulator, developing that car and trying to make amends, [to not] do what we did this year,” Sainz was quoted by motorsport week.

Fred Vasseur reveals Ferrari’s weaknesses in the 2023 season

Ferrari has had a frustrating season so far. Having taken only three podiums until now, with Charles Leclerc in fifth position in the WDC standings, equal at 99 points with Mercedes’ George Russell, it is no doubt that Ferrari has fallen far behind their ever-upgrading rivals. Ferrari chief Fred Vasseur recently revealed his team’s shortcomings and how they plan on rectifying them going forward.
Fred Vasseur expressed his satisfaction with their performance in qualifying, saying they are getting close to Max Verstappen. He said that Ferrari has a lot of work to do for their race pace. Vasseur added that they are going through their tires quickly due to the dirty air.
“It is more on the race pace that Red Bull is miles away compared to everybody. The feeling is that in Qualifying, we are very close behind Mercedes and even with Max…. But my job is to go [through] the list with the team members and fix it. I am very open in saying that we are making too many mistakes.” said Vasseur.
Ferrari managed to grab their third podium of the season in Belgium, with Charles Leclerc getting P3. It remains to be seen what kind of upgrades Ferrari will bring to Zandvoort with their limited resources after the summer break and how effective they will be.
