Carlos Sainz participated in the traditional charity football match before the Monaco GP. The Spanish driver played alongside teammate Charles Leclerc and Alpine’s Pierre Gasly against an all-star lineup. However, things did not go well for the 28-year-old as he was seen receiving treatment for a potential injury after making contact on the field. Sainz has clarified that he is fit and prepared for the upcoming Monaco GP.
The Spanish driver uploaded a story on Instagram to inform his fans that he had not sustained an injury. The 28-year-old made it clear that he will be taking part in the next round of the season in the iconic streets of Monte Carlo. Carlos said, “Just wanted to let you know that I am well and completely ready to race this weekend in Monaco.”
Sainz informed his fans that the incident during the football match was not severe. The 28-year-old made contact with an opponent during the game but was not injured. Carlos Sainz has always loved playing ‘The Beautiful Game’, and this instance was no different. Although now the eyes of the Ferrari driver are at one of the most important races on the F1 calendar.

The Spaniard has had rough sailing in the 2023 F1 season so far. The 28-year-old sits on P5 of the standings in-between the two Mercedes drivers, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. However, Sainz has failed to grab a single podium finish in the first five rounds of the season after losing out to a potential P3 in Australia due to a last-minute penalty.
Carlos might have an edge in the points tally compared to teammate Charles Leclerc as the Spaniard has a 10-point lead over the Monegasque. Yet the 28-year-old has been nowhere in terms of one-lap pace to Leclerc. Charles took pole position at the Azerbaijan GP. Subsequently, pressure will mount on Sainz’s shoulders as the F1 paddock heads to Monaco.
Thus, Carlos Sainz is fit to race in the Monaco GP. The 28-year-old has clarified that he did not get injured in the famous charity football game. Yet it was not a pleasant sight for fans to see the Spanish driver being substituted mid-game for treatment. It remains to be seen how Sainz performs on track in Monte Carlo after an underwhelming performance on the field.
