Carlos Sainz expresses admiration for Charles Leclerc: “He is the one making the difference more than anyone else”

Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc have been up there with the very best this season and have helped Ferrari becoming the competitive team that it was in the late 90s and early 2000s. We still wait to see if the duo can convert this competitiveness into a title at the end of the year but credit should be given to both of them for an amazing start to the season. Ferrari, right now, stands 2nd in the constructor’s standing, 36 points behind Red Bull.
While both the drivers have been impressive, one has definitely outclassed the other and that’s Charles Leclerc, without a shadow of a doubt. Charles Leclerc has oozed class and maturity, allowing him to be in the hunt for the title against Max Verstappen. When we thought Max Verstappen would be able to defend his title after seeing the problems Mercedes has had, Charles Leclerc has stepped up and registered his title credentials in style.
It’s one thing winning races and it’s something different to dominate a race. Charles Leclerc has been utterly dominant on occasions this season. Had his last couple of races were not marred by some bad luck and average decision making, Charles would have had a healthy lead at the top of the standings. But nevertheless, he is within striking distance and could very well win the championship.

Carlos Sainz has been really impressed with kind of performances Leclerc has put in for Ferrari this year around. Recently, he expressed his admiration for him saying, “Charles is a reference point for me, and is probably the best reference point that I can have this year, because he is the one making the difference more than anyone else.”
“He’s in tune with the car, and he’s doing a better season. He deserves it, as he is spectacular. I have had two DNFs: one my fault, and one not my fault. It’s costing me more this year with this car.”
“It’s fair for me to be where I am, and for him to be where he is.”
Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc have been complimenting each other pretty well and that’s a big plus for Ferrari this year around. But Carlos would have to up his game if Ferrari wishes to challenge Red Bull for the constructor’s title.
