Carlos Sainz makes SHOCKING claim that Lewis Hamilton knocked on Ferrari’s door rather than him being approached by the Scuderia
Carlos Sainz has turned the tables on Lewis Hamilton by claiming that the Briton has approached Ferrari for a seat even though it was believed that the Scuderia had been interested in him from the start.

The recent F1 news headlines have all been about Lewis Hamilton and his surprising switch to Ferrari. The 39-year-old has been branded as a true-blue Mercedes racer since he has spent 11 years at the Brackley outfit and is entering his 12th season with the team. However, at this stage of his career, Lewis has perhaps judged that his growth has become stagnant under the leadership of Toto Wolff since he has not won a single Grand Prix in the last two years. And this has led to him signing up for a shift to Ferrari to take up Carlos Sainz‘s seat.
Carlos Sainz was signed by Ferrari at the end of 2021 when he had already gained recognition for his masterful drive for McLaren. The Spaniard had spurts of great performance as a Scuderia racer but he struggled to find consistency in his results. In his debut season with the Maranello outfit, Sainz wowed everyone with a resounding victory at the British GP in Silverstone and he repeated the feat in 2023 as well by becoming the only non-Red Bull driver to win a Grand Prix throughout the season.
However, Carlos Sainz’s fate has been written off already, and he recently said explained Ferrari could not resist replacing him with Hamilton. And while doing so, he revealed it was the Briton who had knocked on the doors of Ferrari rather than it being the other way round.
I think it is clear that when a seven-time world champion knocks on the door of a team like Ferrari, there will be interest and it is possible that the contract will eventually be confirmed.

As the 2024 season is coming closer, Carlos Sainz is well aware that this will be his last time going out and racing for the legacy team of Ferrari. The Spaniard took to his official X handle once the news of Lewis Hamilton shifting to the Scuderia went live. Then, Sainz released a statement regarding his parting ways with Ferrari. But he ended his note with a promise to the Tifosi for making sure to shine bright in his last season just for them.
Following today’s news, Scuderia Ferrari and myself will part ways at the end of 2024. We still have a long season ahead of us and, like always, I will give my absolute best for the team and for the Tifosi all around the world. In other news, Sainz’s team has been quite tight-lipped about the future prospects of the racer since he does not have a team in F1 2025 yet. But there have been rumors that Williams are eyeing to sign the Spaniard up as Alex Albon’s teammate which will end the career of Logan Sargeant in the pinnacle of motorsports. But these reports have no basis as of yet and only time will tell where Carlos Sainz ends up once the 2025 F1 season comes along.
