The revelation that Lewis Hamilton will be joining Ferrari in 2025 has put Carlos Sainz in an awkward position. The Spaniard was negotiating a contract extension with the team, but the seven-time world champion took his seat, leaving him without a contract for the next season.
Since 2021, Carlos Sainz has been associated with Ferrari. Sebastian Vettel was replaced by Sainz in that year along with his engineer. Since Vettel switched from Toro Rosso to Ferrari in 2015, Riccardo Adami has been by his side. Ever since the Spaniard joined Ferrari, Adami has served as his race engineer.
Adami has been assisting Sainz for three years now, which no longer will be the case after the latter moves out of Ferrari. Previously there was no confirmation regarding Adami being Lewis Hamilton’s racing engineer, but now as understood by the media, Adami will join forces with the Brit at Ferrari in 2025.
The ongoing campaign is extremely important for Sainz as he needs a contract for next year to remain a part of F1. As of this moment, he is the most sought-after driver on the grid. The 29-year-old is not only a brilliant driver but is also excellent at strategizing. The Spaniard still has 22 races to prove his brilliance.
Carlos Sainz Jr. insists on being a team player
After the news of Hamilton’s move to Ferrari in 2025 took the internet by storm, many wondered what will be the future of Sainz. With news like this, many speculations hit the ground regarding the Spaniard’s loyalty to the Italian team. While addressing the speculations, Sainz told the media,
Anyone who knows me around the paddock knows I’ve always been a team player. I’ve always done the maximum for each team that I have been to, and I have been to a few now.Carlos Sainz said in an interview with Sky F1
According to the Spaniard, he has a lot of love and respect for the Maranello-based team. He believes in biding his time and helping Ferrari finish the 2024 season on a high note. He does not wish to have any bad blood with the team and his main focus hasn’t changed.
