“Certainly more than Red Bull,” Mattia Binotto confirms Ferrari to introduce upgrades to counter porpoising in Miami

Mattia Binotto with Carlos Sainz and Charles Lelcerc
Imola GP was a disaster for Ferrari and Mattia Binotto as Carlos Sainz spun out of the race and Charles Leclerc finished a disappointing P6 when he looked all set to bag yet another podium. Mattia Binotto understands the importance of continuously upgrading the car in order to have an edge over the arch rivals, Red Bull. Therefore, the Italian Giants have pro actively decided to bring in some upgrades for the Miami GP.
‘Porpoising’ is something we have usually associated with Mercedes and other teams but Ferrari hadn’t faced this problem until the last couple of races. We saw the first signs of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz struggling with porpoising at the Australian GP. Although the issue isn’t seem to be costing the drivers that much, Mattia Binotto would still want to address the issue before it ends up becoming something critical.
Red Bull’s upgrades seem to have gone in their favor in Italy as they stoked a flawless weekend by registering a statement win in Ferrari’s backyard. We all expected Red Bull to respond after what has been a topsy-turvy start to the season and so they did. The momentum is with Max Verstappen and Red Bull and it’s the first time Ferrari has realistically put under any sort of pressure.
Mattia Binotto admit to bringing in upgrades for the upcoming Miami after a disappointing weekend in Imola

Mattia Binotto has confirmed that a few upgrades will be brought in for the Miami GP but the major ones will come after this weekend. He said, “Miami is a high-speed circuit compared to the ones we had so far. So certainly in terms of downforce, we’ll run something different.”
“We will not have the main one in Miami, but still we have a few new parts on the car. We’re still working on the porpoising that… is quite visible, certainly more than Red Bull.”
“This is the [focus] for Miami. The main upgrades will come soon after,” as reported by the-race.
The battle between Ferrari and Red Bull is intensifying with both teams pushing each other to the limit on and off the track and we are just four races into the season. This could make it a really interesting weekend in Miami.
