Charles Leclerc had another woeful GP weekend at Miami this season. The 25-year-old crashed out in Qualifying. Subsequently, the Monegasque driver suffered an underwhelming weekend despite the new upgrades for the GP. Leclerc has now cited a key issue that has hampered the season for the Scuderia so far.

Once again, Charles believed that Ferrari had matched the one-lap pace of the Red Bulls. Yet Maranello has no answer regarding the race pace of the Austrian team. He said, “We have been struggling all day. It’s a very similar picture to the beginning of the year: We are competitive in qualifying, but once we come to race day we are struggling like crazy.”

The Monegasque driver reckoned that the team must look for a narrow window for the car’s setup. Moreover, if Ferrari fails to get the window right, then the SF23 is completely out of balance. Charles Leclerc continued, “The window of our car is so narrow, and whenever you get a little bit out [of the window], it has huge consequences on the balance.”

Additionally, the 25-year-old highlighted the major problems when it comes to the handling of the car. Subsequently, the Ferrari driver has lacked the confidence to extract the most out of the 2023 challenger. Charles explained, “It’s from one corner to the other, and even in one corner sometimes you can have huge understeer, which then goes to huge oversteer, and this is obviously not ideal to have confidence in the car.”

Leclerc has further mentioned facing bottoming of the car that Ferrari will check to allow the drivers to get more pace out of the car. He stated, “Plus I had a lot of bottoming for some reason which I don’t have an explanation for yet. We’ll have to check the car. It’s just the consistency that we are lacking at the moment, and we’ll try and work on that.”

Subsequently, the Monegasque driver mentioned the need for Fred Vasseur‘s team to continue working towards fixing the issues. He concluded, “We have a lot of work to do. We need to find something now because we’ve been struggling in the races for a little bit of time now. So, we need to come up with solutions.”

Thus, Charles Leclerc has pointed out the major problem that has hampered Ferrari’s season. The Monegasque driver has urged the Scuderia to find solutions that can help solve the issue to extract the performance. As such, it remains to be seen if Maranello can turn things around over the course of this season. The Scuderia will stay far behind Red Bull in the GPs.
