Ferrari have had a splendid qualifying in Monza today. Carlos Sainz out-paced Max Verstappen by a close one-tenth of a second to take pole position with his teammate Charles Leclerc on P3. While this much-needed result is cause for celebration for the Maranello-based team, Leclerc expressed his desire of wanting more as he talked about missing out on pole post-qualifying.
Leclerc admitted that he was a bit disappointed as he wanted to take pole for himself, although he did congratulate Sainz for achieving the feat. Leclerc said he struggled throughout the qualifying and did not get as much of a slipstream as he would have wanted, due to which he believes he missed out on P1 as well.
“My feeling can only be amazing with the Tifosi of course, I am a little bit disappointed because I wanted to be P1, but Carlos being P1 is great for the team, he has done a great job all weekend. I probably didn’t have a tow but I was struggling,” said Leclerc.
While Leclerc did land a more than decent position in qualifying, Sainz has had an exceptional weekend so far. Apart from getting pole position for the race tomorrow, Sainz had also come in first in FP2 and FP3. He will surely be highly confident going into the race tomorrow with Ferrari’s home fans cheering the Spaniard on.

Charles Leclerc sets the target for the final race on Sunday in Monza

Ferrari will be heading into the race on Sunday on a high note. With a P1 and P3 finish in qualifying in the team’s home race, the confidence is at an all-time high in the Ferrari garages. As the team celebrates this achievement, Charles Leclerc has already set his target for tomorrow.
While Leclerc showed spectacular form at the qualifying, his teammate Carlos Sainz has been doing so the whole weekend. With the top finish in FP2 and FP3, Sainz was projected to be one of the favorites to be on the pole for tomorrow, which indeed came true. Leclerc said that he is overwhelmed by the support shown by the Tifosi and aims for a one-two finish tomorrow.
“I don’t usually smile when I’m P3, but being here and having this much support is an amazing feeling. The aim is to do a 1-2 with Carlos tomorrow,” said Leclerc.
