Charles Leclerc and Ferrari haven’t had the season that they expected to have so far after 12 Grand Prix rounds. The Maranello based squad seemed to have big title ambitions ahead of the 2023 season. However, they were dissolved soon following their lack of pace in the first half of the season. Apart from that, Max Verstappen and Red Bull have gone on to absolutely destroy the competition this year.

The SF-23 has not met the expectations that the team and drivers had so far. With the budget cap in full swing, introducing upgrades has also become a hassle. With Ferrari being under the leadership of Fred Vasseur, a lot of structural changed and tweaks have been made to the car which have helped in regaining some of the pace that they had lost. Charles Leclerc was back on the podium at Spa before the summer break.

In an interview, here is what the Ferrari driver had to say about the situation. “I think we created quite a bubble without being too much influenced by what’s happening outside, which is a really good thing,” explained Leclerc. “I think Fred was really on board and understood straight away that the media could influence a little bit the team in some type of ways in the past, and this was one of the focuses at the beginning of the year,” he continued.

Ferrari’s 2023 car has proven to be a track demon when it comes to qualifying. Leclerc has already grabbed two pole positions this season. However, the story on race-day is completely different. Tyre degradation has often left Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz at the back foot when compared to rivals Mercedes and Red Bull. However, Leclerc’s podium at Spa has proven to boost morale at Maranello.

On the other hand, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have been the only drivers to win a F1 Grand Prix in 2023 so far. With the summer break in place, all the drivers have gotten a chance to sit back and relax until the next leg of the season initiates. Max could possibly win his 9th consecutive race at the Dutch GP taking place at the end of this month.
