Charles Leclerc’s immensely positive relationship with Ferrari is no secret. He has been with the team since 2016, when he joined the Ferrari driver academy. Having raced 94 races for the team and being on 27 podiums, it was obvious that Leclerc wanted to win the WDC with Ferrari.

Recently, reports emerged that Leclerc was looking to explore different options due to Ferrari’s questionable team management. The team’s race strategies have cost Leclerc dearly on many occasions. But, it is now rumored that he has already signed a multi-year deal with Ferrari. It is said that Leclerc has signed a 2+3 renewal with the Maranello-based team.

While Leclerc is possibly going to continue with Ferrari for a long time, the same cannot be said for his teammate Carlos Sainz. With Leclerc being favored in Ferrari, Sainz might be looking for a change of pace. He has been linked with Alpine recently, with his father pushing for a move.

Charles Leclerc thinks Ferrari might not have necessarily improved their tire situation

Leclerc had a solid run in Belgium. The Monegasque finished P3, clinching his third podium of the season. With Ferrari struggling with their tire management, Belgium’s results indicated that the team might have made a breakthrough. But Leclerc is unsure of this, saying it is still too early to give a verdict.

Leclerc said he did see some improvement in their tire management, especially with Lewis Hamilton being on his back the entire race. He said that despite this, it is too early to say that this is a consistent result as it has been only two or three races since improvement has been seen.

“I think it’s a bit too early to say but it’s been two or three races where we are managing our tyres better. And also looking at the Mercedes behind, I was in control of the pace of my tyres. We still need to keep an eye on that because sometimes, especially in very specific conditions, we sometimes get off the window of the tyres, the right window, and then we struggle quite a lot,” he said.

Leclerc also explained that Ferrari’s strategy was based on Hamilton. He said that while Hamilton had a good pace, their strategy helped them keep him behind Leclerc. Leclerc said, “So, yeah, our strategy was based on Lewis and trying to keep him behind during the whole race. He had a good pace, but I felt we had him under control.”
