Ferrari, the iconic Prancing Horse in Formula 1, has endured a challenging decade, securing only 24 victories since the onset of the 2013 season. The team’s recent struggles include a spectrum of issues, including race mismanagement, failing to compete against their rivals’ team orders, and frequent retirements due to mechanical failures. Ferrari’s latest Grand Prix title came 16 years ago as Kimi Raikkonen clinched the 2007 World Championship.

Charles Leclerc has been leading the charge for Ferrari as the Monégasque has apparently been the number 1 driver at the team in recent years. Leclerc recently discussed his aim of becoming a World Champion in Ferrari’s colors.

I just enjoy what I do with a lot of passion and a lot of dedication in trying to do the best job possible and hopefully becoming a world champion as soon as possible.

The Monégasque further mentioned how the task of winning the Legendary team their next World Title amidst their longest running droughts does not add pressure on him.

The 2023 season brought a glimmer of hope for the Scarlet team as they emerged victorious at the Singapore Grand Prix, making them the only squad other than Red Bull to claim a Grand Prix win this season. However, this win was claimed by Ferrari’s other driver – Carlos Sainz. Charles Leclerc has yet to win a Grand Prix this season.

Red Bull’s Christian Horner recently gave counsel to Ferrari on getting back to winning ways

The renowned team Ferrari, often celebrated as the Italian Stallion in Formula 1, holds an enduring legacy in the sport, being the only team to have competed in every season of the Formula One World Championship. With a storied history, the iconic Scarlet cars proudly boast the highest number of titles in both Driver’s Championships and Constructor’s Championships, boasting an impressive record of 16 Grand Prix titles and 243 Grand Prix victories.

Despite this rich heritage, the team has recently encountered its most formidable challenge, enduring a 16-year title drought, the longest period without a Championship in their Formula 1 history.

Christian Horner, the head of Red Bull, a contemporary force in Formula 1, offered insights into the challenges faced by Ferrari. According to Horner, Ferrari, once a pure racing team, has transformed into more of a national institution. His advice to the Italian powerhouse is to rediscover its essence as a racing-centric entity.

I think Ferrari's biggest problem is that it's a national team. It has to be a racing team again.

Highlighting the challenge of multiple voices within Ferrari, Horner pointed out the resulting lack of clarity and hindered decision-making. Drawing a comparison with Red Bull’s agility in adapting and making prompt decisions, Horner suggested Ferrari should embrace a similar approach to reclaim its position at the forefront of Formula 1.
