F1 driver Charles Leclerc‘s future at Ferrari has been the talk of the town recently. The Monegasque driver has the potential to deliver, but many believe that Ferrari have failed to utilize it. There has been speculation that Leclerc is the prime candidate to replace Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes, with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

F1 pundit Peter Windsor has advised Leclerc against taking the seat at the Silver Arrows. He claims the young man should stay at Ferrari or join Red Bull, partnering with Max Verstappen. Speaking to formula1news, Windsor said, “It wouldn’t be easy against Max but he would be there or thereabouts and I think, if he was in a Red Bull, he’d be right up there for the Championship.”

Windsor added, “That’s his only chance if he goes to Mercedes and replaces Lewis. But then he’s got to beat George Russell. Not easy at all. Much more difficult than beating Carlos Sainz.” According to Windsor, Leclerc’s options are to remain at Ferrari or go to Red Bull. However, the latter is fully focused on their golden boy Verstappen.

The Monegasque showcased his remarkable talent by securing back-to-back pole positions in Baku, highlighting a possible return to his brilliant best. Although the Red Bulls outperformed him during the race, with their superior machinery, it was no surprise. Nonetheless, Leclerc capitalized on his chances and made the most of his opportunities, resulting in a well-deserved podium finish.

In stark contrast to Baku, Leclerc encountered a challenging weekend in Miami. He experienced multiple difficulties, including two crashes at turn seven, during FP2 and Qualifying. On Sunday, he encountered further setbacks as he struggled to find his rhythm and found himself stuck behind the Haas, a team which is not expected to be a competitor for him.

Leclerc’s underwhelming seventh-place finish in Miami was far from the desired outcome for both him and Ferrari. He aspires to be in the fight for victories and podiums, making this result a significant disappointment. The inconsistency between his success in Baku and the struggles faced in Miami has raised major concerns.

Leclerc’s setbacks and disastrous seasons with Ferrari have linked him with a move away from Maranello. He clarified after Baku that he was not interested in any negotiations at the moment. However, that could change quickly if the team fails him.
