Charles Leclerc the Ferrari Formula One driver is currently leading the 2022 drivers championship and is handsomely ahead of the rest of the competition. The Monegasque driver after three races is on 71 points with a 34-point buffer over second-place George Russell.
Former Spanish racer Marc Gene has recently shed light on what according to him has been the main difference that has propelled Leclerc ahead of Verstappen in their battle for the 2022 championship.
According to Gene, the Monegasque driver has benefitted from the time he spent with four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari and has also stressed the healthy competition that he has got from the “smooth operator” Carlos Sainz.

while talking about it Gene said, “Leclerc’s advantage lies in the teammates he has had. He is a consequence of what he has learned, as well as his talent.”
“Having a mate like Vettel, or Sainz is something Max didn’t have. He helps to raise the bar.”
Max Verstappen made it to Formula One at a very young age and at that time he had Carlos Sainz to accompany him at Toro Rosso who himself was a rookie.
But today’s Carlos Sainz is a finished article and has been able to help Leclerc in refining his art by giving him tough competition since the start of last season.
Marc Gene: He sees that Charles Leclerc is very strong

Marc Gene has talked up what Max Verstappen was able to achieve last season with Red Bull and believes that now the Dutchman has all the confidence in the world to go on and achieve bigger things.
While talking about Verstappen Gene said, “A success that gives Verstappen more confidence,”
“Is more mature, more thoughtful. Of course, he sees that Charles is very strong because he hasn’t done anything wrong for now.“

“The world championship has not yet gone for Red Bull, but Max is faced with a new situation and with a great disadvantage in the standings.”
Marc Gene believes the World Championship is still very much in catching distance of Max Verstappen but on the other hand, has also stressed the points difference, that according to him, will be a bit difficult to cut.
