Lewis Hamilton and Christian Horner seem to be engaged in a war of words. The Red Bull team boss claimed that the seven-time champion inquired about joining the Austrian team. However, Hamilton has continued to deny such allegations. Now, Horner has insisted that a member of the 38-year-old’s management did get in touch with Milton Keynes.
The Red Bull team boss reckoned that Hamilton’s management simply expressed his interest in joining the team. Although, Horner insisted that this was nothing out of the ordinary in the F1 paddock. Teams and drivers often contact one another as they consider their options for the future. However, Lewis Hamilton did not accept these claims.
They were just expressing interest. But that’s not unusual, let’s put it that way.Christian Horner told RaceFans.net
Moreover, Christian Horner believed that perhaps the situation was too awkward for the seven-time champion. As Hamilton had already signed a two-year extension with Mercedes. However, the 38-year-old recently admitted that he has made it clear to Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff that he did not try to join Red Bull.
Maybe it’s slightly awkward for Lewis, obviously, with his own team. It’s not unusual for people to reach out

Horner did not share the details of the interaction with Hamilton’s management. The 50-year-old mentioned that this was the norm for management teams as they try and find the best opportunity for their athletes. Although, the Red Bull team boss believed that it would be surprising if Lewis Hamilton was not informed of this move.
I’m not going to go into the details of the where, who and why, but perhaps they wouldn’t be doing their job if they didn’t. I’d be rather surprised if they hadn’t informed Lewis but you never know how managements work with different athletes.
Additionally, Christian Horner made it clear that there were no direct conversations between Hamilton and Red Bull. However, Hamilton has continued to dismiss such claims. The seven-time world champion even alleged that perhaps Horner was spreading such rumors to get more attention in the media this weekend.
