Red Bull Racing has dominated F1 since the start of the new ground-effect era of the sport in 2022. Max Verstappen has truly annihilated the competition this year with ten wins in the first half of the season. Undoubtedly, the Milton Keynes-based team has an easy run to the title this season. Team Principal Christian Horner admitted that he was not keen on having closer competition.

Horner was asked if the 49-year-old wanted a closer fight for the championship after Verstappen’s eighth win in a row at the Belgian GP. The Red Bull team boss quickly denied it, and as reported by Motorsport.com said, “There’s not one ounce of me that wishes that. I think I’m still in recovery from 2021.” In 2021, the Drivers’ championship was decided on the last lap of the last race between Max Verstappen and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton.

Certainly, the 49-year-old would not like to face such a situation again when the title showdown goes down to the wire. Instead, Christian Horner has enjoyed a calmer time since 2022 as Red Bull has continued to dominate the sport. The Milton Keynes-based team is set to win both titles this season, with Verstappen racing in a league of his own.

The Red Bull team boss praised his team for the continuous efforts made over the years. The work at Milton Keynes has borne fruit with the team’s incredible success. Christian Horner said, “I think that it’s a golden moment for our team. Hats off to everybody behind the scenes, everybody that’s working as hard as they are to achieve this kind of performance.”

The Briton was delighted to have Red Bull remain undefeated this season. The Milton Keynes-based team now holds the record for the most consecutive wins for an F1 team in history. At the same time, Verstappen is just one race victory away from matching Sebastian Vettel‘s nine wins in a row. Vettel achieved this massive seat with Red Bull in 2013.

Christian Horner is happy not to face rival competition this season. Red Bull continues to enjoy a massive advantage over its rivals this year, with the RB-19 remaining undefeated so far. Though, it remains to be seen if Horner’s team manages to end the season with this staggering lead as rivals such as Ferrari and Mercedes work tirelessly to get closer.
