The 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix has become a thing of the past but is still amassing several headlines because of Lando Norris‘s podium antics. A lot has already been said about Norris breaking Max Verstappen’s trophy, and the Red Bull Team Principal, Christian Horner, has also recently jumped on the bandwagon.
Christian Horner is furious with Lando Norris for carelessly breaking Max Verstappen’s P1 trophy and has asked him to pay for the damages. He ardently believes that the McLaren star could have been a bit careful with his celebrations, considering how delicate the Hungarian Grand Prix trophies were.
However, what’s done is done, and Horner being the leader at Red Bull, has asked Lando Norris to pay the bill.
It was firmly Lando's fault that knocked it over apparently, and I just heard it's about €60,000 euros worth of damage that he's done so uh, and it took six months to make.. I should send him the bill, it's only fair since he knocked it over.Christain Horner said.
The 49-year-old has made it crystal clear that considering how much effort went into the making of the prestigious P1 trophy, it is quite fair that Norris owns up to his mistakes and pays the bill for the damage that he cost to the trophy. Horner does not see any other way to resolve the situation. Though Horner claims the trophy is worth €60,000 ($66,400) the actual worth of the trophy is €40,000 ($43,000).
Christian Horner’s team is on an incredibly dominant run in 2023
While Christian Horner is a bit disappointed with Lando Norris’s Hungarian GP podium antics, the fact cannot be ignored that the Red Bull F1 team has been on an incredibly dominant run during the ongoing campaign. Verstappen is brilliantly leading the team’s charge, and it is almost inevitable that the Austrian outfit will secure all the big accolades this season.
As things stand, the Milton-Keynes-based team is comfortably leading both the World Championships, and there is not even a minute chance of any of the rival teams posing a stiff challenge. The 2023 season is just reaching the halfway point, and Horner and Co. are cruising at the front end of the grid.
Next up on the F1 calendar is the Belgian Grand Prix, and going into the race weekend, Red Bull is again the favorite to come out on top. However, an upset could be on the cards considering Mercedes was able to snatch the pole position during the Hungarian GP’s qualifying session. No matter what happens, Spa would provide the fans with exciting racing.
